"1975" uses its own DNA to prove its greatness in the annals of Pop music

For years, JF harbored a growing sense that the greatest year in American pop music was hiding in plain sight. Often overshadowed by other eras — the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s for exapmple — the mid 70s produced a torrent of great songs. fusing the musical sophistication of popular songwriting's previous golden age with a new urgency born of a turbulent era's loss of innocence, virtually every segment of the pop songbook was coming of age in a uniquely thrilling way. Julian and his Rather Big Band proved the point by putting a set of tunes from 1975 through their paces in front of a sold-out crowd at Joe's Pub, their beloved home base in NYC.
